It's a medieval village located south of the Cinque Terre on the western shore of the Gulf of Poets. Easily accessible via the Napoleonic Road, it's a must-see.

It has always been a maritime city, with its large commercial port, known for one of the largest arsenals of the Italian Navy. The Naval Museum and the Amedeo Lia Art Museum are worth visiting.
